Everyone hates to change, or the change itself. About three weeks ago, i have made some. My plans for the Jesus game were too big for just myself to complete. Well, i could be developing the project for my entire life and i it would be done. But time won`t wait for me to do it. The graphics and programming would be too old for the players. The problem is doing it alone, well… fortunately i have 3d models and textures already done by some artists. But that won`t be enough for the concept. I am a perfeccionist, and that`s a big problem, because i don`t see it as overkill, just want to make things as better as they can be. So as the project is being made, the goal keeps taking higher levels. This means that the goal itself will never be reached.
One day, just woke up wanting to make a Biblical game. Well, i wanted to play one, but this game didn`t existed. And i knew that just me in the world would like to play it. Then i simply decided to do it, as a ‘Game Developer’ student at the time. Still remember how it was. I painted a Jesus model, cutted up in the articulations, just like paper. Putted it on Blender and animated it. It was perfect to me, except that Jesus was walking like he`s was going to fall back. The model was perfect because it didn`t have cloth simulation and the movement didn`t have to be realistic, as well as the rigging. The art style was simple, but beautiful.
I love old movies, so i putted some noise effect on the screen, just a few ones, only the careful ones would see it. Painted a big stone wall and a gate, it was Jerusalem`s. Then putted some little soldiers to spawn on the right side of the screen and made them disapear when getting to the gate. I don`t know if i will make this on the new game, it would be something that just myself would recognize. I just loved the ‘Another World’ art style. Many games have this game as a big reference.
Still don’t know why i decided to make the game in 3d. There’s an advantage with it that, wich is that you don’t have to repaint a certain object to get a different angle. And the 3d garantees that the dimension of the objects in relation to the perspective will be precise. As well as the light and shadow in the whole scene.
I hope to make some progress with the game now. It will be hard to do what i want for it. I wanted the game to start with Jesus walking by the streets of Kepharnakhum and getting to his house. In this scene, i wanted to place the camera behing him, as well as any 3d game. But, as the game is now 2d, this won’t be possible. This is just one example of the many that i will have to deal with.
